Rice with Spicy Sausage

October 15, 2016 Martha Theus
Rice with Spicy Sausage

Rice with Spicy Sausage

Rice with Spicy Sausage is one of Londale Sr.’s favorite dishes. The Chipotle Sausages are definitely spicy and the turmeric brightens up the whole dish.

Preparation and Assembly Time: 10 minutes
Cooking Time (if rice is already cooked): 10 minutes
Yield: 3 servings

INGREDIENTS

1 package Mexican Chipotle Sausage by Field Roast® (4 links)
½ sweet onion, chopped
½ teaspoon cumin
3 cups cooked brown rice
¼ teaspoon turmeric
Dash of black pepper (optional)
A tad of Bragg’s® Liquid Aminos (optional - spray bottle is best)
Oil for sautéing

1.    Remove the Mexican Chipotle Sausages from their packaging and cut into bite sized pieces. Coat the bottom of a frying pan or skillet and sauté the sausages on high heat until they become crispy. Flip and cook the other side until crispy as well.

 2.    Remove the sausages from skillet and set aside. Add a little more oil to the skillet and sauté the onion on medium-high heat. Stir and add the cumin. Cook until the onion becomes soft.

 3.  Turn down the heat to a low setting.  Add the cooked rice and turmeric and mix well. Add the cooked Mexican Chipotle Sausage/onion and mix well. Add black pepper and spray Liquid Aminos to taste.

Makes 3 servings.
