WHY WE'RE VEGETARIAN

Next to "where do you get your protein?", the one question we are asked the most is "why are you vegetarian?" Many people are shocked to learn that we have been vegetarians for so long, and that our children were raised from birth as such. For us, eating animals is simply not an option, no matter how inconvenient or restrictive it may seem to others. Although there are many reasons for living a vegetarian lifestyle; ethical, health, and environmental, we have been able to maintain our lifestyle for so long without fail because we made a choice based upon our spiritual beliefs which are the very foundation of our life. It affects the way we eat and how we see ourselves in God's creation. Every time we put food in our mouths we are making a moral decision. The funny thing is that the Universe has honored this choice - we enjoy good, vibrant health, and to be honest, convenience has never been an issue for us - we see vegetarian alternatives everywhere! For us, it is simply a matter of aligning our life around our principles and priorities.

To become a vegetarian is to step into the stream which leads to Nirvana.

We feel it is important that all of our customers and supporters know our reasons for vegetarianism because it is the driving force behind the information and recipes that we share with you. Our recipes are not always low fat or low carb, but they will always be low karma! In spite of my penchant for flavorful, rich foods, you will still find that most if not all of our recipes are much better for your health and the environment than the Standard American Diet (S.A.D.). Our approach addresses first and foremost the most important body, which, in our opinion, is the spiritual body, and not the physical body or even the earth body. We believe that if choices are made according to spiritual or eternal principles, then the physical and environmental issues will take care of themselves.

As long as man continues to be the ruthless destroyer of lower living beings, he will never know health or peace. For as long as men massacre animals, they will kill each other. Indeed, he who sows the seeds of murder and pain cannot reap joy and love.
— Pythagoras

We applaud, honor, and appreciate all those who have made a choice to live a vegetarian lifestyle or are looking to make a change in this direction, regardless of the reason! We are here to share and help however we can be of service.
